The main competition begins at 16:00 on Sunday, when international and local competitors perform their dives into the Miljacka River. Organizers expect the largest number of participants in the event’s history.
The weekend started on Saturday with Bentbaša Cliff Diving x Summer Fest, an open-air music programme featuring Rajot, Eela, Not Yet, Lik Jay and Rewave.
Where Is Bentbaša?
Bentbaša is located immediately east of Baščaršija and Sarajevo City Hall, making the event easy to combine with sightseeing in the Old Town. Visitors can explore Baščaršija, Sebilj, the Latin Bridge and Sarajevo City Hall before continuing toward Bentbaša along the Miljacka River. Because the event attracts large crowds, arriving early is recommended if you want a good viewing position.
Getting There by Rental Car
Visitors arriving from Sarajevo International Airport should allow roughly 25–35 minutes to reach the Old Town area, depending on traffic. Driving directly to Bentbaša shortly before the competition is not the best option.
Parking close to the event is limited, and pedestrian activity around the river is likely to be heavy.
A more practical approach is to park in an authorized parking area or garage around Baščaršija or Sarajevo City Hall and continue to Bentbaša on foot. If you are staying in central Sarajevo, you may not need the rental car at all for the event.
Useful Tips for Visitors
August afternoons in Sarajevo can be hot, so bring water, sunglasses and sun protection. Comfortable shoes are recommended because you may need to walk or stand for an extended period. Stay within designated spectator areas and never enter restricted sections near the diving platform or river.
The event is free to attend, making Bentbaša Cliff Diving an easy addition to a Sarajevo sightseeing itinerary.
Explore More of Sarajevo by Car
After the event, a rental car is useful for exploring destinations outside the city centre, including Trebević Mountain, Vrelo Bosne, Bjelašnica and the Tunnel of Hope. Visitors staying longer can also plan road trips from Sarajevo to Mostar, Blagaj, Travnik, Jajce or Višegrad.
Bentbaša Cliff Diving offers tourists something different from Sarajevo’s traditional museums and historic attractions: international sport, a riverside setting and a local summer event only minutes from the Old Town.
Getting there by car
Free meet & greet at Sarajevo Airport, unlimited mileage on most categories, and CDW plus theft protection included as standard.
